Hi, I’m Jonathan Mackenzie, COO of Apply Yourself: The Advancement Spot Inc. I am also a Partner at Shnier Mackenzie Law & Policy Consulting, PC.

Before joining Apply Yourself and Shnier Mackenzie Law, from 2011 to 2019, I practiced law in the areas of insurance defence and personal injury litigation at several well-established insurance defence and personal injury firms in the Greater Toronto Area. During that time, I represented injured persons as well as some of Canada’s largest insurers at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, and at various tribunals.

Subsequently, in 2019, I completed the Real Estate Salesperson Education Course with the OREA Real Estate College and obtained my Real Estate License. From 2019 to 2022, I worked as Corporate Legal Counsel at the largest Canadian-owned Real Estate Franchisor, where my practice focused on Franchise Law, Labour & Employment Law, Intellectual Property Law, and a variety of other corporate and commercial matters. 

As someone who has switched areas of law practice after almost a decade in one practice area, I bring my understanding, and experience of professional transition, growth, and advancement to the Apply Yourself Community. I know first-hand that learning and professional development is a lifelong process that never stops.
